Prevent Helminthes. Enhance Education.
Shoes for poor children help prevent
helminthes disease
Helminthes is one of the major health
problems faced by hundreds of millions of school-age children. Since
helminthes is soil transmitted, the majority of the helminthes victims
are children who live in the slums and rural villages where sanitary and
health conditions are low and the soil is contaminated.
Mubina is a five year old girl who lives in slum colony
of India. Her mother is a poor widow who struggles to feed her children.
Mubina walks to school barefoot on the dirt road, just like all other
children in her community. Unfortunately the slum they live is also the
place where the city dumps all kinds of waste, including toxic waste. Little
Mubina became often sick and was an easy prey to soil soil-transmitted
helminthes (hookworm disease).

Village program that educate people ways to prevent helminthes.
Helminthes destroys the tissues and organs in which
they live, and cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, intestinal obstruction,
anemia, ulcers. Helminthes also cause the child to have poor appetite, which
even furthers the malnutrition and anemia.
Since helminthes consume nutrients from
the children they infect, the poor and malnourished children who are
affected by helminthes quickly become vulnerable to more diseases.
continuous illness affects the child's ability to learn, and thus deprives
him/her from a desirable future.
A pair of shoes can protect Mubina's little feet, and help prevent the
attack of helminthes. Sadly, as far as her poor mother is concerned, it
would take a near miracle that would afford her a pair of shoes each for her
children. Mubina is not alone. Thousands of slum children await such a
miracle. Owning a new pair of shoes will be a miracle to them, a miracle you
can perform today!
Even if the euphoria created by commercialized Christmas seems to overshadow
the beauty and power of Christmas at times, if celebrated thoughtfully, this
special occasion can perform miracles in many lives. Sanma seek to present
opportunities, where you can take the miracle of Christmas to people through
simple, yet significant gifts.
To some, it takes a miracle to know the miracle of Christmas. It takes you.
