Quality Education for Indian VillagesBuild Public Schools and Community Education Centers across Indian Villages and Slums
Illiteracy is not just ignorance; it is worse. Often literacy makes the difference between freedom and bondage to so many people. Haunted by a sense of shame and insecurity that constantly haunts them, people who are unable to read and write become defenseless, and are deprived of their basic rights as humans. The Community Education Center program of Sanma has been proved to be one of the most effective methods today to educate the illiterate community of south Asia, serving more than 50 villages through 43 CEC's. In addition to helping public schools with their most urgent needs, Sanma started its first public school in July 2008. There are hundreds of villages and thousands of brilliant students who lack access to a quality education. Millions of women and children in the rural areas of India fall victim of modern day slavery, child prostitution. Each year thousands of children below the age of ten are becoming victims of the slave trade because they do not access to education, and are illiterate. Opening public schools that provide quality education based on Christian principle will certainly set people free from the bondage they are in today.
