Sustainability
through establishing village churches
Sanma village churches have an integral
role in establishing sustainability to
local communities. Destructive habits enter the society when people are hopeless about
their future.
King David wanted to know what it takes for one to have a prosperous and
safe home. He recorded the findings to his questions in a poem, which is
known as Psalms 15.
What Sanma does through churches is persistently applying principles
that enabled people to lead a life that is worthy, and thrive as a
society. Because of the unique bond the local church has with the
people, it can implement programs in a very practical, and effective
fashion.
In order to achieve meaningful and sustainable development, there must
be some principles in place such as integrity, compassion towards his
neighbors, and positive search for justice. A caring local church can
bring people together like none other because it focuses on building up their fellow-man, and
seek justice for all.
Sanma village churches are established in places where illiteracy rates
are high because the financial and social conditions did not allow
people opportunity to get any formal education.
Pastors
and lay people are taught at Sanma regional offices as Community
Educators. The neighbors teaches neighbor to read and write.
The Sanma village churches are also places for people to get information
that saves lives.
Sanma trains, equips, and supports local people who educate the
communities about ways to prevent diseases that killed their children,
and prevented parents from earning an income.
