Outlook
Sanma has programs that allow micro farmers to break
the cycle of poverty and thrive. The same also provides something
each person deserve; a dignified life, a life that is worth living!
Untold number of micro farmers and farm laborers, after toiling all
their lives to make food for others, are now struggling to find any
of the same for themselves and their children. They are left alone,
and find themselves helpless, and they need our help.
After years of toil producing food for others, micro
farmers often find themselves lacking food to feed their own family,
let alone any retirement savings or health assistance.
Sanma’s Farm India: A
practical approach
Thankfully, Sanma has some solutions. We learned that
if we can help the farmer to increase his efficiency, there will be
sustainable solution. To our excitement, we found that, in most
cases micro farmers can significantly enhance their productivity
with a simple, basic training, and a set of animals to help him with
the farming! A $250/ pair working animals can help a farmer from
losing his family farm!

Sanma operates neighborhood schools in the rural
villages known as Community Education Centers which offers evening
classes for poor farmers, farm laborers and child laborers. Micro
farmers and farm laborers who complete the free classes at Sanma
Community Education Centers become eligible to receive animals such
as a pair of plowing animals to enhance their productivity.
Often,
these lowly animals can make the difference between poverty and a
dignified life for a farmer and his family. With the help of these
simple animals the farmer can till his land, and produce food. Yes,
a pair of animals can work wonders, as far as a micro farmer like
Mr. Naik is concerned, a wonder that you can become today!
Naik is a micro farmer in
Orissa, India, who owns two acres of land that has been passed down
to him from his parents. He knows farming, and his land can produce
enough food for his family, with some to sell. But Naik is not
farming! Sitting at the porch of his hut, he wonders about the
future of his children. He has not been able to buy a pair of
plowing oxen, and is forced to leave his land uncultivated.
Thankfully, this is an old story. Today, Naik is
sitting with his children, not wondering about their future, but as
a proud father and a confident man, who is more than grateful for
being able to provide for his family, and educate his children! The
change happened to his life was simple, yet dramatic. Naik received
a pair of plowing oxen. With the help of these animals, Naik is able
to till his farm and produce enough food to make a living.
Now, each day as he cares for his animals and builds
up a happy family, he is also trying to define you. In his
definition, you are more than a giver; you impacted their life with
compassion!
